San Benito County begins contract with Perimeter

On May 8, 2023, San Benito County began its contract with Perimeter, an all-risk evacuation management platform that supports information sharing and collaboration across disciplines, jurisdictional boundaries, and the public.

San Benito County is now working in collaboration with Perimeter to improve incident preparedness by creating evacuation zones. Additionally, Perimeter staff are onboarding public safety personnel to ensure the county is prepared for future activations.

The Perimeter Platform aids public safety by making critical information like evacuation notices, road closures, and shelter locations available on its user-friendly county map. The platform’s evacuation management system allows public safety staff, news agencies, and residents to easily share the most up-to-date information.

With no sign-up or opt-in required, individuals can visit Perimeter’s public map to see if they are in an impacted area during an incident. The platform will only be updated by San Benito County during major incidents, as announced by San Benito Office of Emergency Services

San Benito County experienced intense storms in Jan. 2023, resulting in evacuation warnings for most residents. A vast majority of the county was subject to mandatory evacuation at the time following a water over the spillway event at the Pacheco Reservoir.
